Removed #5
Marc, following your directions (I'm bored) I gimped the pic to a 42K file right click on pic -> copy goto account settings -> signature -> right click inside the box -> paste and the result is "URL too large" When I pasted the url a minute ago the forum griped about saving a message of over 30,000 characters. First part of the url looks like: http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/data:image/jpeg;base64,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<< snipped at this point> It almost looks like it's tying to convert the entire picture into the URL??? Sparks
I think the reason for such a long URL is because the image was uploaded directly from my desktop... I think if it is saved to say photobucket and then copied and pasted then it would work.... I am on my phone at the min i will jump on my laptop and give it a try now
Removed #5
Sparks, that works (sorry, wrong person earlier) uploaded to my website and inserted from there. Like you I uploaded it from my desktop.

BlueWolf
If you put this in your signature, it should work. You can do it through all the buttons above it, but this one will do the same [img=http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/attachments/sig-jpg.17842/] @Al Jones You're right about the image being converted to text. It's a neat algorithm called base64. If you remove the leading "http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/" part and insert the resulting link into your browser, the image would magically pop up and it's not hosted anywhere! Good for hiding stuff, bad for putting them on a forum that way (and it won't work, as you saw)
