brian brown
Found this article today:http://www.dailypost.co.uk/farming-north-wales/farming-news/2011/08/11/lawnmowers-huskies-and-wedding-carriages-at-biggest-display-of-shire-horses-55578-29215898/ " NORMAN Frost’s horse-drawn hearse will be on display at North Wales Shire Horse Society’s open day at Bodelwyddan Castle on Sunday, August 28, 12noon. More than 30 Shires will be present – more than at any other show in North Wales and more than were at the Royal Welsh. A further 25 non-Shire heavy horses will also be giving working demonstrations, from logging to pulling implements such as lawn mowers. Some will even give jumping displays. Other attractions include a Victorian wedding carriage, with bride. There’s also a Robinsons’ brewery dray, Cocking wagon, farriers and huskie dogs" Is anyone off here taking part in this? My girlfriend's dad rang me & said it says in the paper 'working Huskies' so I assume there may be a 'pulling' display or scooter/rig display? I'm going to take Mishka along (if dogs are allowed) to see how she reacts as I'd like to 'scooter' train her when she's old enough (if she's not already, at 1 year old?) brian brown
Pity it takes me such a long time to get up north You could make a weekend of it? My girlfriend often goes to Cardiff & back in a day on the train for work. I don't even know if it'll be any good but as there's hardly anything 'Husky' around here' I thought I'd go (I was supposed to be going to a car show that day but Husky comes 1st )

brian brown
I've just spoken to a lovely lady who's actually the organizer of this event (sorry, I didn't catch her name - oops ) She's actually read this thread . Sorry but............ Unfortunately, Bodelwyddan Castle won't allow dogs on their land unless they're part of the event. What the lady suggested, was next year, if any the forum/members wanted to arrange a 'stall' to show their dogs & chat with (educate?) the public about this wonderful breed, she might be able to sort something out. The people who are doing the Husky demonstration are (if anyone knows them off here?): Ian & Tessa Waking (spelling?) who work with one of the Husky Welfares & are doing it to raise money I'll still be going to watch, quite like horses & want to see the Huskies

Val (Zebedee)
aw, what a shame, but it's worth thinking about for next year, though, organising a stall
brian brown
Found out that there's going to be Newfoundlands & Burmese (iirc) attending as well
brian brown
Some picture from today's show. The weather wasn't too bad & everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Unfortunately, the Huskies didn't turn up, I was told there was a family illness so they hadn't attended. I met a man from Anglesey who'd come to watch the Huskies as well (I did point him to the forum ) Last picture is of me with a Burmese, we went to say hello & he made a bee-line straight for me, seemed to have taken a shine to me. He was gorgeous & leaned right into my leg. He was heavy

brian brown
Liking the pics Brian We got a caravan down there will tell you next time am there we can take dogs on the beach Yeah, I'm always out with mine somewhere, always up for a walk great pics! Some fantastic carriages & traps .... that Burmese Mountain dog sure knew who to get cuddles off He certainly did! We walked over & the g'friend went to say hello to it's friend. That one in the picture looked at me, got up & came over to me when there were about 5 others stood there?! Wow! Then he started leaning into my leg to keep me there! It was so strange, it was like he was attracted to me like a magnet. The lady who owned him said "they know who loves dogs" Lovely Pics but. . . . where are the promised Huskies ???? As I said just before the pictures "Unfortunately, the Huskies didn't turn up, I was told there was a family illness so they hadn't attended." I asked one of the women who was helping out & that's what she said. She also said a couple of people had asked the same thing, saying they had Huskies too & that's why they'd gone
