wow why was it running around the streets without and owner !? was it a stray !? There is a simlar situation in my street two boxers live across the street and the idiotic owners let them into the front garden for the toilet unsupervised without a fence..... Dumb or what its a busy street too for children as there is a school and car traffic... low and behold i walk past with my puppy and they sprint across a busy road to my puppy that was scary... boxers were bigger than me ....i immediatly went to their house and complained but alas junkie bastard owners excuse the french with about 10 kids "oh ... sorry but yeno we are new here" oh wow valid excuse there friend ! makes perfect sense to me ! ......tossers...

No it wasn't a stray. Unfortunately we live in an area with a lot of irresponsible, idiot dog owners, a bit like the owners of the boxers you mentioned. It is not the first time this has happened. Last year I had to repeatedly kick a staffie that was out on its own and attacked Sabes and would not let go. I was by myself and it was really frightening.

I hope your pup is ok and the experience doesn't scare her for the future. Unfortunatly Little Nel has had some bad experiences with other dogs which have resulted in her not going near other dogs at all, and if one comes near her she gets very defensive to the point of near aggression :(

The law says (so does that article) that you only need to feel threatened by a dog for it to be considered 'out of control' and therefore an offence which means you without a doubt would have a good ground for reporting them. I've been lucky so far, Kiska's never been attacked, the worst incident was an offlead husky x over the field pinning her to the floor and making her yelp but it wasn't a proper attack. If (and probably unfortunately when) she is ever attacked and I feel the owner has either caused it by allowing their dog to run amock or has a stinking attitude afterwards (for example in this case!) then I would call to report it right away without hessitation.

Hope your pup is ok :heartbeat: Are there any other people who have huskies in your area that you could meet up with and socialise your pup with...

I know one person with huskies but its not "close" i would have to take a day off and arrange transport over about 60miles ... and my pup gets very car sick... the only other people i know are his breeder where his mum and dad live but this is also about 100miles traveling distance. A friend of mine has a German sheapered who is one year old now we have talked about introducing them but have not yet done this.

Hope that your pup is ok... Do get him out meeting friendly dogs. Have you checked out the Husky Owners Member's Map? (http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/memberMap/) You might find some folks near you with friendly huskies that would enjoy playing with your little guy. If you pin your location on it, it will make it easier for others to find you, as well!

Lots of fun car rides (short trips, working up to a little longer ones) can really help this - the dog I've had that was the worst about being car sick ended up wanting to go absolutely everywhere with me. He'd stay in the backseat and wait all day while I worked, as long as the weather was cool enough, and was overjoyed at the opportunity!

Edit - Can you all in areas where you're having troubles with off-lead dogs get your local council to take action to enact and enforce leash laws?

The leash laws idea is great however this is scotland.... if people are stupid enough to behave like this here it usually means they dont give a "S$@t" meaning they wouldnt obey the law and the police here dont care about anything as well, we already have some laws around this that nobody seems to follow as it is...

That's too bad - I'm sorry, wish it would work, but guess it won't without police being willing to enforce the laws... Maybe a can of Mace?

Haha Mace is illigal in this country... you see this country SUCKS

All the things like Tasers, Mace, Stun guns and other self defence tools are illigeal to buy here in the UK and illegal to own without valid reason... the government here love to look after criminals they get Satalite TV and XBOX in jail , and normal citizens are not even allowed to defend themselves its a nightmare here.,
