Harley had a little cough a couple of months back so no delay, take to the vets today! I've got a great vet, he took time to explain that 'kennel cough' is a catch-all term for a whole number of possible issues. He explained that most are similar to our common colds and nothing to worry about, although some viral and disease causes of kennel cough can lead to much more serious complications. He also informed me that there might be an organic source to the cough, such as a particular type of worm, although that was not his first thought. He said Harley's shouldn't be anything to worry about, just not to exercise him too hard until he's better to keep his immune system strong, and monitor how he is. I was to bring him back if the cough persisted, got worse, any blood came up, he went off his food for more than a couple of days, or anything I was worried about. In the meantime he recommended a kids cough syrup to help ease the cough. He cleared up in just a few days. <3Jess<3 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 We are pretty lucky bella bounces back really quick with everything n was only sick for about 4 dats when she had KC. Remember they are contagious for up to two weeks so be careful. I used a humidifier, heater on 24/7 and lots n lots of water even giving her the water through medical surigine the night she was really bad also gave her a vit c tablet each morning good luck it's pretty rough when our babies are unwell make sure u go vet there's no drug to cure KC but they may give u antibiotics to treat what ever may have caused it or underlying infections which normally go with kennel cough Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Macy received the KC vaccine. It's supposed to protect them from 3 different forms of the virus. It only cost $15.00 cdn so price wasn't an issue. I'd rather have my girl protected no matter what...
