Alot of people say u can give them cough med to help treat it. I was woundering how often do u give it to them? The last few days I've just been giving it to him once a day. Michelle Melsom
http://www.kennelcoughhelp.com/kennel-cough-remedies.php Keep in mind if you are giving your dog cough syrup it should NOT contain tylenol (acetaminophen)
shadow01
I have heard of giving Benalyn, but I cant remember which colour one. The vet even recommended it before for my mothers Lab. Worked brilliantly.
Hyshqa
Kiska's had kennel cough recently and the vets gave me some tablets for her but when I went back for a different reason a couple of weeks later I mentioned about my friend's dog having caught it and she just told me not to bother telling her to bring her dog in for anything because it goes away on its own anyway. Was really annoyed about that  My ex-housemate used benalyn to treat her dogs when they caught it so it's alright to use.

SaraB
Depending on how bad it is, it usually just goes away on its own. My mom does rescue and every now and then she gets dogs with kc and it spreads through her dogs. But I think they've gotten kc so many times now, they no longer get it when she brings home a new one with it. I don't think she usually treats the kc with anything unless she's going to foster out the dog. Then she gives it some medicine that is supposed to make it noncontagous. Arooroomom
I let it work itself out. I keep them on limited exercise and they're usually not feeling too hot so they don't mind. Mine usually are over it within just a few days. I've only brought one of my dogs to the vet for kennel cough once.
