Elyse
Why? Why do parents these days insist on giving STUPID names? I don't mean unique...I mean STUPID. My cousin just had a kid....2 months ago, I think. She named him Talon. Talon. REALLY? After all the suggestions of unique and great names I gave her, she named him TALON? I'm tempted to call him Eagle from now on... *facepalm*
Tanya-Meika&Keeva
I actually don't mind the name Talon. The name Apple on the other hand is just plain ridiculous. Years later i'm still wondering what Gwyneth Paltrow was thinking when she decided to call her child that.
Meganlovestyger
Talon is an Irish name. I think. I read this series called the dark-hunter and a main character was named that. I almost name my sibe it.
sutsibe
Talon wouldn't be near the top of my list for a human kid, but I guess it's better than what some celebrities name their kids - How about Frank Zappa's kid, "Moon Unit"? flyingspanner
How about Frank Zappa's kid, "Moon Unit"? Or David Bowie's son Zowie. Strangely now known as Joe. I can't think why,

Kara
I've been working with children and families for over 20yrs and I have seen some doozies! These parents don't think about when the kid is learning how to spell, recognize and write their names, the difficulty the kid has in accomplishing this....i would remember one, but truly can't spell it cuz it was so hard to spell and made no sense in the spelling that my brain never fully internalized it, but it was a form a Dejanay, but with about 12 other letters added to it, it was absurd... but the classic of all time ....... set of twins named RaeKwon and TaeKwon, then she popped out the 3rd and she named him StaeKwon! The brothers were known as Rae and Tae (which is fine), but the last one Stae! really? is the next one gonna be SitKwon ??? I could go on forever and ever, but tend to block some of this out of my mind, cuz i've worked with so many and loved each and everyone, tantrums and all. I also live in an area of lots of old hippies and gronola folk, and many are friends, but naming your kid Tree, or Fire, is just not nice. I like some of the granola names and find the connection with nature and meanings loving and thoughtful, BUT lets not forget the ones you just can't pronounce how its spelled....and also, if a typical person cannot pronounce the name, than its not a name! I know some of these names tend to be cultural and family, but it can be daunting in my career. However it can also all be very laughable, and if my brain could recall these names better I could write a book! My husband says that if I was to pop out a kid, that we would just "name the damned thing Bob, regardless of boy or girl" BOB .....no wonder I don't have any kids! Elyse
Names like Hope, Faith, and Charity bug me too. I mean, I'm all for unique names or non-common names (Like Alan or Jared)...but just names like THAT belong in a dictionary.
