Hello from California!

We have recently become the owners of a 2 year old spayed rescue, Juno. Since her adoption (Sept), the whole family has been taking turns researching all we can about Siberians, as well as all of their quirky habits. :)

We found husky-owners.com this morning by googling "my husky hates wet grass"

post-8679-0-49713100-1369287529_thumb.jp Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Juno was a local rescue from two towns over from us. She is an escape artist that got into continuous trouble with her previous family's neighboring farmer. It escalated to the point that he was using her for shooting practice- fortunately he was a bad shot!! We have kept very tight reigns on her since adopting her. We are on a fenced acre but she only runs loose in the yard when one of us is with her. The rest of the time she is in house with us. There is someone at home at least 95% of the time currently but that will change this summer. Our oldest will be leaving for basic training in June. We are currently looking for a companion dog (husky rescue) before that fateful day...

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the pics Mellisa - He's beautiful -

What Rescue? Was it NorSled?

BTW - when you get another dog, make sure you remove that loose choker. They tend to do a lot of neck play and it has happened that one dogs bottom jaw will get twisted up in the collar and hooked over the bottom teeth. Very bad deal when it happens.

Hi Melissa and Juno from a frigid Texan ... wait, that didn't sound right! Hello from a Texan in a real frigid Texas!!!! 'course we learn to like 100f and anything less than 70 is frigid!!

If you get the chance, next time you're on, how about hopping over to the member map http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/memberMap/ and pinning yourself there. It helps to find people in your area with whom you can have Husky play dates; it also helps when you ask questions since we have some idea of what stores, etc are in your area.

Loved the picture - those big eyes are great!!

A rescue organization wasn't involved but rather it was a local rescue situation. It was a listing we saw on our local craigslist for a rescue of a husky that was in urgent need of a new home. sorry for the confusion :-)

The choker is a temporary thing (I hope). Juno listens well enough to the adults in the house, but she ignores our 11 and 13 year old boys. The collar helps them be able to lead her around when she needs to obey. I will definitely remember to make sure not to leave it on when we get another dog- that would be a horrible thing to happen. thanks for the heads up!
