Val (Zebedee)
For those who got a dog that already had a given name, did you change it? If you did, did you choose a name that sounded similar so as not to confuse the dog? Or have you just stuck with the name they came with? Sarah
When we got Koda, he was called Storm - we were his 5th home and he had always had that name, personally, i felt, new home new name, new start .... also, Kimba, Kaiser and Storm didn't fit right so Kimba Kaiser and Koda it now is - KKK oops but he suits it. I just called him Koda from day one and treated him when he responded to it x

Paranormal Wolf
Kuma was named Bear but we wanted something a bit more unusual. Even though I call him Kuma here on the forum really he still goes by Bear. We started calling him by both names together in anticipation of dropping Bear but it never happened haha! He will respond to both names though.
MollynDiesel
Diesel was born without a name, poor little guy Wanted to call him Onyx but a certain boy *cough* James *cough* wanted to throw pokeballs at him, so i called him Diesel. But yh he picked it up pretty quickly. Tbh my dogs will answer to anything if you say it in a high enough voice lol
robke
Bindi was called Benji, which we thought was a male dogs name, so we changed it to Bindi, one of the meanings is "Star of Energy" which fits her to a teeth. Also she really did not listen to Benji but the B & I were key in the name change and the first time we called her Bindi she responded straight away. Alpha was called that from birth and we did not change that.
Taiya Blue and Miko too
Taiya was called Ice but it didn't suit her and she didn't respond to it, so she's named after an alaskan river Blue was Blue and we kept it cause it suited him

Elyse
Suka came with 'Suka' at the shelter. I almost changed it to Apache or Sabre, but eventually 'Suka' grew on me. His original name, from his first owners, was Prince. Maybe that's why he acts like a spoiled dog sometimes. LOL

lovemysiberian
Taz was his name originally, kept it since he was 9 years old, plus he was named after Taz from Looney Tunes (my favorite character at that) and I think it fit his personality! Echo's shelter name was Laila, I just loved the sound of Echo. I was gonna name her Glacier, however, my boyfriend would not agree, so we agreed on Echo! RedJasper
Rusty came with his name. I kept it the same on his papers too Rusty's Red Jasper.
Ravenwolf
We kept Scout the same. I didn't want to because I use the 'out' command a lot, but we couldn't think of anything that suited him to change it to. Wyatt came to us with the name General Motors, GM for short. And yes, his father was Chevy, and the remaining siblings were all named after car companies. We renamed him right away. We just started calling him Wyatt right away and he learned it pretty fast. Jan&Diesel
Diesel was originally Diamond, for the white diamond shaped patch of hair on his head. The patch of hair is gone and so is the name. Diamond, to me, is a girls name and he responded to Diesel right away.
