There is tattooing for branding reasons, such as when an animal is desexed or microchipped they get a small tattoo in their ear and then there is idiocy like that! sutsibe Posted December 15, 2011 Report Share Posted December 15, 2011 Before microchipping was common, we had our show dogs tattooed - just their AKC number on the inside of their leg. It took very little time, and while it wasn't terribly comfortable, it would have been nothing at all compared to what would be involved with a tattoo like that poor cat in the picture!
