Val (Zebedee)
Myshka has started getting a little bit of red tear stains around her eye - there is no redness, itching, swelling, discharge, nothing but I have noticed the colouring as, with this moult, she has gone several shades lighter & it's very obvious. It's not major, but I would like to know a bit more about it. Does anyone else have a husky with it? What did you do about it? I don't want to just buy the cleaning kits you can get as that is masking the issue, I don't want to cover it up if it means there is a problem. I have done the usual web searches & it all refers to excessive tearing & staining, but hers is not severe. It start a week or two ago - not long after we got Kaviq - coincidence or could there be something in it?
Elyse
I think Suka may have reddish tear stains as well. I've tried to clean it a few times, but it never comes off, so it might just be part of his colouration.

Kech
Macy had this and I took care of it by daily eye cleaning using a solution of 1 teaspoon of Boric Acid(Pharmacy) mixed in with 1 cup of Boiling water. Mix well and let cool before applying. I clean and dry her eyes once a day using cottonballs and this solution. The stains will disappear within 2-3 weeks. Macy's stain is gone, but I still continue the cleaning process cause it is a good cleaning solution. As long as the solution remains in a covered bowl, it will last for 7 days before having to make another batch. Give it a try, it works really well... BTW, don't use the same cottonball or pad on both eyes. In addition, always dry area after cleaning...
