robke
It should be in place. I do not know how the prices are in UK now (been gone from UK for 6 years now) but here in Holland the prices vary a lot from 1 vet € 85.- to my vet € 30.- (includes full passport). But still should not stop people from doing it.
Mika
i have no idea what vets charge to do this but theres a dogs home near me who offer it for just £5!! it costs around that for a tag which can be easily lost so well worth it in my opinion:)

sian_lea
miska was £34 but that was with worming tabs so don't know seperately, but i definitely think it should be compulsory but i think to many good owners it's already a given
lebe03
It should already be compulsory for all pets to be micro chipped as soon as possible with a portion of the cost going to animal charities. It should be accompanied by a log book such as you get with a car so you can trace the pets history which should help reduce the high number of strays
