Lavs
Is a hard boiled egg ok for a puppy to eat? I'd like to find healthy treat options that are easy for her to digest because she can't have traditional treats as they worsen her colitis. Hard boiled or raw egg? Which is better? I give mine one each once a week raw, but occasionally will put a hard boiled in their dinner. Apparently, any more than once a week can give them constipation though. Egg is natural - trust it! sutsibe
Giving them hard boiled in the shell can be rather amusing, and give them something to do, figuring out how to get at the treat! It's quite fun, watching them figure out how to peel it - I usually crack it to get things started, at least at first!

Mollys Dad
<snip>Giving them hard boiled in the shell</snip> The shell is supposed to be good for them - calcium / bones etc - maybe ground into powder (pestle & mortar) & sprinkled on the food? Sanka
Sanka had a box of 4 eggs from the kitchen side one day last week, broke 3 of them and only ate the yolk and bought the 4th up stairs to show us what he had been doing, unbroken

shadow01
Whenever I have had puppys or had a puppy have always fed them scrambled egg or a mashed hard boiled one. The older ones I give them an egg with the shell on as Gigi suggested. Its fun watching them work out they have to drop it to find the prize lol. sutsibe
The shell is supposed to be good for them - calcium / bones etc - maybe ground into powder (pestle & mortar) & sprinkled on the food? Yeah, that would probably work well enough...
Mollys Dad
we used to do that when we had chickens - recycle the shells into new ones!
Casper1
I gave Casper an egg tonight, he took it out of his bowl and studied it. Poor little chap kept rolling it around the floor, looking very confused, until he very genty picked it back up and put it back into his bowl, before moving onto his spare rib!
