Off lead question

O my husky is about 3 months old, and will stay around me off lead, and come back when I call him.. It may take two or three times sometimes haha, but he exhibits this in places other than my house (open areas)... My question is will he still do this when he's older, or should I start the lead training now, I know huskies love to explore, will instinct kick in?

He most likely won't do that when he's older.

Sibes have high prey drives and love to run and explore. They're also stubborn, too, especially in their teenage years! (5 months-1.5 years, I believe?)

I'd recommend leash training him now so he gets used to it, and it'll be easier if you start now than if you wait. IMO, a husky should never be let off-lead no matter how reliable their recall is...one day they just might decide something else is more interesting than you and go running off...

First time we were in an open area (our fenced in dog park) he stayed close to us for about... 15 minutes, after which he decided that whatever else was going on there was far more interesting than us.

So, even though he is keeping close now and coming back when called, this won't last long. I would definitely start leash training and also a more solid recall training - having to call 2-3 times, even for a young puppy, does not mean a very reliable recall.
