miguel
my husky just jumps around when she sees other dogs... what should I do? or what is the right training for this? It's not aggression its more of excitement.
Ravenwolf
Yeah, they'll do that! http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/threads/over-excited-when-we-meet-other-dogs.32750/ http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/threads/greeting-dogs-on-leash-and-socializing.36747/
Tikaani'smum
My Malakai does that too, and he's so powerful I can hardly hold him, so not only does he look like he wants to eat the other dog, it looks like he's really not trained at all! I find it pretty embarrassing that I can't control my dog around other dogs. The problem I've had is that because of Malakai's 'look' - the ice blue eyes - people tend to give us a wide berth, even when he was a puppy, so I've never had the opportunity to have him around a lot of other dogs, only one or two who's owners were 'brave enough' to allow their dog to meet him . This obviously wasn't enough socialisation for him and now he just wants to meet every dog he sees and tries to go bounding towards them, dragging me and Tikka along with him
Kissu & Aara
Kissuna does this too. To make it more embarrassing, sometimes he will 'scream' if a dog is running or playing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
miguel
yeah, that's one of the main reasons too why I want to avoid this. It looks like I am clueless when it comes it dogs when my dog does that.
Tikaani'smum
At one time I used to be able to get both of mine sitting nicely while other dogs/people walked past....now Malakai is older he tends to go deaf when he sees anything that might be of interest, especially when it's a dog!
