walky dog

We have used one with Molly and it works pretty well. Word of advice - do the bolts that hold it onto the bike up tight. Then tighten a LOT more. The leverage of a dog suddenly spotting a squirrel / cat / whatever, multiplied by the length of the walky rod bit will make it swivel round the seat post unless it is REALLY tight. The length of the rod acts like a long lever!

The advantage is that the dog can't get under your wheels if they stop to sniff. The rod is easily removable to put the bike in a shed / trough a gate etc. The rod just clips on to the clamp part when you want. Not tried it with Timber yet though...

I do :)

I also agree with doing the bolts up, i find i have to keep doing it up after every run because it loosens itself up alot, but its great fun once they learn to avoid the wheels lol

Ok so my trixie landed through the letter box this morn and what a lovely suprise. I love Amazon its soooooooo quick!!!!! 10 mins to put it on, 20 mins to get to bridal path at Heapy and away we did go. Absolutely awesome product im so thrilled with it. However i came across two little teeny problems. Shiloh did an unexpected complete stop to pooh and my bike seat span round almost facing me in the opposite direction !!! :lolman:(Andy has tightened that up for me now :oops ). 2. Shiloh constantly pulls sideways so that he is as far away from the bike as possible. I never gave it a thought that he would find being next to a bike so terrifying (shame on me) i should have known better as he is terrified of any kind of contraption. Ironing board, hoover and bike to name but a few. So because he is pulling sideways so much his harness slides round to the side. Any advice on harnesses would be much appreciated. I have tightened it up and will try again tomorrow. Having said that i think he enjoyed it and spud certainly did. I did video us but it didnt turn out as expected  will try again tomorrow :D

Somebody on a *similar* thread (I can't find it) said that they had done the walky dog bracket up *really* tight and then the seat had turned round when their dog bolted. Can anyone point me to this person / thread? What they evidently did wrong is attaching the bracket to the seat post rather than the part of the bike frame that the seat post fits into
