Yes the growing list of things taht are illegal at shools seems to just grow and grow and grow some more....

Yes take it all away, make it contraband....because that approach will work for the war on weight with the same success that the war on drugs has had with it....

That I don't know...it seems that as children react to the letter of the law....*L* Napkin sales.... and administrators are reacting to the spirit of it. Though strangely because a snickers bar is not healthier than ya know bananna bread.

Parents are asking whether or not this insanity is going to extend to school events as pointed out in the article...which isn't the first of its kind. A school in Utah was recently fined $15,000 because they didn't unplug their soda machines at lunch time...something that's causing them to cut their art program.

i don't understand what punishing the already cash strapped schools is going to do besides force the education system to basically cease existing. I mean do they even think of the long term consequences to their stupid short term loser decisions??? I'm not a parent but I can imagine how incredibly frustrating it must be

Molly's_Dad this is actually in response to federal regulations...if your childs school gets funding from I think it's the USDA, they have to follow the regs and retarded handed down or risk fines that ya know...benefit the kids in the long run right?

Our schools are constantly being bombarded with beaurocracy of that sort. One of the recent ones is to turn them into academies. So what? These are run by businesses as businesses - totally independent from the local council / parent organisations / teaching regulatory bodies - the lot. Of course this means massive savings for the government (local & national) as they no longer fund these schools. Makes good business sense. Who loses? Erm - the kids of course. And many of the staff

This sort of thing has been quietly happening for over a year in the 'Land of the free'. This article might be of interest to you:
