BUT, he made videos in 2010 with him having two kittens, loving them, and then putting them in a plastic vacuum bag, and sucked the air out of the bag and watched the kittens die, and then he puts their bodies in the freezer, then later post's photos of him doing sex positions with the dead kittens. Then he made another video with a different cat and he showed him loving on it, too and put it by a python, and I think the python ate it, or he later tied the cat down with some wrap and threw it in the bath tub to watch it drown, and he taped that to and posted all those videos... A great many nations in the Western world don't have a death penalty....and somehwere in there we've gotten to a point where we believe you have to be sane to be accountable for your actions...It all I believe came from the best of intentions the insanity thing...and has been taken advantage of by criminals for too long now. I believe the original intent of allowing an insanity plea was to allow individuals who were functioning with a lower than normal IQ who were unable to grasp the consequences of their actions. In this instance I believe that he's completely insane...sane people don't chop up other people and kill kittens. I also believe that he ought to be held accountable for his actions, as clearly sending your lovers body parts to a government office indicates that you know that what your doing is wrong on some level and will upset people. As usual, HO discussion have centered on aspects which steer away from the blood, guts and gore and into the more real issues. My first comment is what on earth causes someone to twist their life so far from anything like the social norm? and, No, I have no answer for that. My second is regarding the death penalty. While I generally have very mixed emotions regarding the death penalty, there are cases where I have no qualms such as the two men in Louisiana who who kidnapped a boy for ransom and then later gruesomely murdered him. In the case under discussion, while the man is obviously psychotic he appears to have enough grasp on reality that I would have to consider him a prime candidate for the death penalty (in fact quickly!) The use of the insanity plea, at least here in the US, as stated was intended to protect those who were, in fact, mentally incompetent - who really did not understand the effects of their actions. Regrettably the "legal profession" have found that they can pervert its intention by claiming, in effect, "that no one in their right mind would do such a thing!" thus their clients must obviously be insane. They obviously keep doing it, so why let them live? They're just going to cause more problems. Removed #5 Posted June 2, 2012 Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 I don't know about the rest of the "civilized" world, but here in the states, it's actually cheaper to keep them alive on death row (or imprisoned without possibility of parole) than it is to go through the appeals process to execute them. and maybe I'm just a sadist at heart but doesn't it make more sense to keep them alive for as long as possible to let them regret what they did - at some point there would, I would think, have to be some regrets, even it's regretting what they did because it keeps them locked away forever!
