Is Broder fat or just big boned?

I think Broder may be too fat but he also seems a different shape to most huskies we see. He's got a really wide rib cage! Anyone who's seem him recently - what do you think? We feed him raw and less than the recommended amount - 400g a day.

He's 7 and a half months and weighs 18kg.

I've never really thought about it before but comparing him to the huskies at Canine Capers he seems a really odd shape!

:)

No he's not fat.

you can see he has a "waistline" in both Photos.

From the side the chest bulges out and then it curves inward towards the back legs.

If he were fat there would just be a chest which continues in an outward curve to the belly.

and the second photo you can see the width of the chest and then the waistline going in then out again to the hips.

He's perfect.

don't worry.

huskies come in different shapes and sizes. the two most obvious differences i see are more stockier built with large rib cage.

the second type is very slight (like a runners physique) during the summer my micha(the slight one) looks underweight even though she is at the top weight for a female and the right height. During the winter she looks fantastic.

if you are worried go check with your vet.

to be honest he seems like he is a nice size and weight.
