All they were told when they got her was that she was a husky mix. She was a sweet girl who liked to run and was fairly vocal. Very friendly to everyone and other dogs and just a joy to be around. [MENTION=4]Sarah[/MENTION] I could see Akita but almost no one in Kentucky has them lol and if they do they keep them in the house or in a secure place. jmscott Posted July 11, 2012 Report Share Posted July 11, 2012 The style of the mask, the slight stockiness, and bone structure of the face makes me think siberian husky and either an off standard or partial pit bull mix. although I could see what looks like Akita, I would think the dog would be a little bigger with a tighter tail curl. Ryder's Mum was part Akita with that colouring, and her build and face are very similar. Second to last picture looks like the spitting image of Ryders happy face! Akitas are few and far between around where she was from lol. In all the years I've lived in this area I've only know of one Akita owner around this part of Kentucky. She had mostly a husky personality, acted a lot like my Kuma but just not skittish or strangers like he is. I also think Lab, as she looks a lot like a lab husky mix I know from the neighborhood I work in, but Luna's tail looks puffier than this ones and Luna looks longer and taller than the one I see at near work (walk on my lunch break where I have run into and spoken with this dogs owners). Thanks for sharing the memory! BTW my Alice as skiddish with people too, had all the other husky traits, but only showed them at home with us:) I think of it as we were special enough that she could let her true colors show at home. Kuma is the same way, when he's some with us he shows his full husky personality but when strangers are around he gets shy and very skittish.
