Circe
Will neutering my husky help prevent certain cancers and other potential health risks? And is it a more dangerous procedure as he is 5 years old? Thoughts?
Hyshqa
It does indeed help to prevent certain cancers, the earlier it's done the more effective it is. I wouldn't say it would be much more dangerous to have the procedure done at his age, for males it's a fairly simple procedure anyway
raindog
I don't think that age is likely to be a problem. At 5 he is in his prime. We had an 18 year old neutered last year, which actually saved his life as it was discovered that he had testicular cancer. Removing his 'bits' stopped the cancer spreading. He's just had an operation to remove a blockage in his intestine and, at 19 his recovery has been little short of amazing. They're a tough old breed!
