LittleLuka
As soon as i get home i will post a picture but Luka has this once patch on his snout where the fur is like thinning out and i can see his skin. It doesn't look dry or irritated just his fur thinning out to a little bald patch. Any ideas what this is? allergies maybe? i mean i've seen him itch his face but not often! Removed #5
Looks like it might be the beginning of a hot spot, but that's an odd place for one. They're normally someplace where it's warm and damp - oh, that defines Memphis, doesn't it?? How long has it taken to get to this point? and how "itchy" is it? LittleLuka
About a month ... And he doesn't really itch it often maybe a few times I've seen him. And yes it's horribly humid here ugh haha
Removed #5
It probably wouldn't be a hot spot if it's developed that slowly, and they tend to be irritating enough that the dog is almost constantly scratching / biting it. Possibly some form of allergic reaction.... @sutsibe .... your turn!!! Suggestions?? Edited August 1, 2012 by Al Jones
sutsibe
It looks a little reddish/pinkish - is it so? I truly don't know what it is, especially given that it did come on slowly, and doesn't seem itchy. Any lesions on or near the mouth always bring ZRD (zinc deficiency) to mind, but I really would expect dry, crusty lesions around the lips, if that were the case... If you're concerned, and particularly if there isn't a change for the better (or IS a change for the worse) fairly soon, I guess I'd take him for a visit to the vet... LittleLuka
It's pink underneath yes. And no where else but if it doesn't go away soon I think I'll take him in just to be safe.
balonsmom
how often has he been scratching it? If it is a lot then maybe an insect bite or sting?
