Kennel Cough Vaccine

Is it worth getting yup or nope????

Reason i ask is our dogs had it recently and we were told by the local vet that even if you vaccinate your dog against it, there is alot of different strains of kennel cough and it doesnt guarantee to protect the dogs against it

That and there is the obvious cost involved, we have four dogs just unsure whether to get it

I've got it for my two, but like you said there's lots of different strains and they could still end up catching it after splashing out the money for the vaccine. It's up to you. With the vaccine they'll have that little bit extra protection against it, but you'd have to be prepared to grit your teeth if they still end up catching it. I'd probably base it on whether you're likely to be taking your dogs to high risk areas with groups of dogs etc.

I do it for my dogs, mainly because I couldn't fathom how much it would cost treating the size of the pack I have....but also my dogs are exposed to all sorts of things at the dog shows, better to be protected from what I can protect them from than leave them totally exposed in my opinion.

I think you've made a wise decision. I too would have them all vaccinated.
