Juneau
Anyone have any suggestions for removing tarter build up. Our older dog has some tarter on his two top molars on each side in the back. Dont want to have to bring him to the vets when the rest of his teeth and gums look fine. It's not the yellow or brown build up it looks like hard line scale on his teeth.

I'd try to start with just putting your fingers in his mouth and see what the reaction is. They make a finger brush that you can use to massage around the gums, and then can add doggie toothpaste. Not sure you really have a better choice than the vet, but this is at least an option. I know it's almost time for Andy.
Juneau
He lasts about 45 sec before he gets agitated. It's good that it's only his back teeth. But bad because I can't see spending a fortune on just 2 teeth

You could try Plaqueoff, which is available from places like Pets at Home or online. Its all natural ingredients and works by gradually softening tartar/ plaque over a period of time, until its more easily removed.its a dry powder you add to food,we have used it on our oldest dog and it does seem to work, but you need to use it for at least 8 wks to get results.
