Hyshqa
I started work at Last Chance Animal Rescue yesterday, and today we had an influx of dogs from 2 Welsh pounds - every Tuesday they send a volunteer to drive a massive van to the pounds to pick up dogs who are due to be put down that day (hence calling themselves 'Last Chance' ). Today we got 12 of them, and some of these dogs got me really frustrated - we got in two 5 1/2 week old lab x collie puppies, still had cloudy eyes. How in the hell do puppies so young end up in a kill-pound where they're not even supposed to be away from mum yet??? Surely even looking at it from a BYB angle....they could make a mint off of these two puppies!! Why dump them rather than selling them? They were both adorable, one looked like a black lab puppy and the other looked more collie-like, blue merle and everything! I got to take them out of the van and give them a bath How could two sweet puppies end up in this place at such a young age?? I just don't get it. The other dogs that frustrate me are the oldies. How does a dog get to a fairly old age and suddenly end up in rescue? We got a 6-7 year old westie bitch in who was badly matted, smelly and yellow, but she was so sweet, she must have been socialised, she looked well fed, etc. How does someone go from loving and caring for their little dog for 6 years, to sending it off to god knows where to be neglected, and end up in a kill-pound after all those years?? We don't get much information on the dogs that come in from the pound so I can't help but look at all of them and wonder what sort of life they've had to bring them here

Hyshqa
Well I spend the day cleaning up after them, walking them, feeding them, cuddling them etc, so I know I'm making their lives better, and I'm part of the next step to their new lives, so I don't feel too bad It just bothers me that they have to be here in the first place. LittleLuka
sometimes elderly individuals pass away and their family chooses to dump their dogs. i've seen it happen alot exp. with older dogs. it's so sad and unfair. they've had a good life and then all of a sudden it's been taken away from them. Stormy
Would absolutely love to be doing what your doing! It is awful how they all end up in rescue and how people see them as just something to get rid of when theyre fed up of it! Shocked at the puppys though!!!
