lee0113
hi the breeder i am getting my pup from is currently feeding her on tast of the wild im a bit worried as i have read that it has alot of protein maybe to much for a non working dog she seems totally fine on it at the moment but just would like anybodys opinion/experiences for the future thanks in advance
Sarah
my boys were on it for a while and did fine - youngsters need more protein to help them grow but TOTW is an all stages life food and a good one too
lee0113
thanks i suppose i will just monitorher on it as she grows and see what effects it has
Emma
Taste of the wild is supposed to be pretty good. Youngsters food is supposed to be about 30% protein (someone correct me if I'm wrong, lol). I too have heard that non working adult huskies require significantly less. There is a thread on here about protein percentages somewhere but I'm not sure where it is, lol.
sjwrx
ToTW is a good quality kibble. Huskies also generally don't need as much food, so you wouldn't need to follow the recommended amounts on the back of the bag. You'll soon find out if you are overfeeding that he/she will have the runs. Panda is on Acana, slightly higher in protein i believe 33% compared to 28% or so on ToTW, he's 8 months old around 40lbs or 17.7Kg. Not at all fat or overweight, he doesn't get worked either, other then his 1 hour walks in the morning and at night and dog park every 2 days or so. Sarah
i wouldn't let her eat whenever she likes - they get into the habit of grazing that way and if you ever get another it can cause issues with them fighting over the food
lee0113
thats great thanks i thought it was best not to let them eat whenever they like
Mazz
Your breeder has given the pups a good start with TOTW. It is an excellent food. We normally feed TOTW to our two, but with the terribly hot summer, and their lack of interest in activity, we've placed them on Diamond Naturals, to keep them from getting to hefty. TOTW also makes a puppy formula, but it's not necessary to switch. If your breeder started them on TOTW, I would keep your pump on TOTW. Just don't follow the amounts listed on the bag. Those are generally too much for a Husky.
Emma
This one? http://www.husky-owners.com/forum/showthread.php/19995-What-to-feed-how-much-to-feed-and-how-to-feed No. Although that one was good. I think it may of been one that Hyshqa started, not sure. Kind of irrelevant I guess as you already know what to look out for from this one, i just liked the other one as it was short and sweet and dummy proof for people like me! Lol. HuskyMom09
My girls who are now almost 14 weeks old are on Taste Of The Wild Puppy Formula with great results, all of my adults are on TOTW and we have been more than pleased. We are feeding 3 times a day now, originally 4 times a day (8-11 weeks) Our breeder had them on Wellness Puppy which always gave them loose stools which indicated it was a bit too calorically dense for the little ones. But since the switch became final, solid stools, healthy skin, beautiful coat, healthy happy puppies.
jessiezara90
When I got my pup who is now nearly 5 months we did try a few different foods but found is stools were quite runny and the vets said he was slight uunderweight, so did some research and we tried totw and it's brill, he looks and feels great and his poos are lovely:):)
