HuskyMom09
Thanks! I'm really excited about it! And I finally figured out how to get it to be recognized by Google, so now it's officially public I'll be continuing to make tweeks here and there to it, so I'm open to suggestions or corrections/changes! jmscott
On our website we put up a holiday puppy policy. Basically it says we will not sell pups as surprise gifts or holiday novelties.
HuskyMom09
On our website we put up a holiday puppy policy. Basically it says we will not sell pups as surprise gifts or holiday novelties. That's a wonderful idea/policy! I'll have to think about implementing something like that for our site! We're nowhere near puppies but better to think ahead!
jmscott
this isnt our entire policy, but this is what we have on our website: Our puppies will not be available during holidays. Here are some of the reasons we do this: With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the family and friends who don't know to keep the dog inside, kids who think the puppy will stay in the yard; the open doors provide puppies with too many opportunities to escape and make the holiday a tragedy instead of a celebration. With all the people about the house, the chances of a puppy getting trapped underfoot increases significantly. New puppies need routines. Planning potty breaks throughout the day will be very difficult with other holiday plans. All the tinsel and chocolate and other holiday gifts and decor can make for a deadly environment for a curious puppy. It is very difficult to supervise a puppy during holidays, which makes the possibility of a sick or frightened puppy biting a visitor a real possibility. This excerpt from a news article illustrates the reasoning behind our decision. In one memorable summer for Samoyed Rescue of Minnesota, three dogs arrived, one after the other. All 18 months old, the white fluffy dogs were typical mischievous adolescents--if a little unrulier than most. "None of the dogs had been to obedience class," says Julie Dunkle of Seattle, one of the rescue group's founders. "None of the owners had studied the breed before buying the puppies, which would have clued them in that a Samoyed wasn't a good choice for their families, or at least explained why the dog was behaving the way she did and what to do about it." The kicker: All were named Angel, and all had started life as Christmas gifts for the kids. ...Your puppy won't just be with you for Christmas Day; she's there for the rest of her life. So give yourself the time to make a wise choice--even if it means missing the December 25th deadline. For similar reasons, we will not sell Origin Siberian Husky puppies that are intended as surprise gifts. oh, i also posted the SHCA's warning about merle sibs, with a very clear statement that we do not breed merle dogs, and never will.
