What are the differences?

Can anyone tell me the differnce between h back harness and x back harnesses? We want to start having Meeka pulling in a couple months and was wondering the pros cons etc...

only difference in my opinion is the design... they are both good for the job..its just a personal preference to what ones people use.. i use X back but thats only thru choice not cos they are any better than a H back

Different design suits different dogs, IME H-back suit long slender dogs, X-backs suit stockier dogs

Really X-backs suit most dogs, but different brands will have different sizing some while one brand may get the perfect fit, another will be slightly off etc. I recommend made to measure ones where possible. Many places do made to measure x-backs but SASS are the main h-back suppliers

I prefer the design of the X-backs to the H-backs and think that the X-backs distribute the weight more evenly from the shoulders.

It's a matter of preference really, but I like the traditional X-back style.

The H-back is a longer style and has an open back which usually fits long and/or wide-bodied dogs better than the X-back, which is sized to fit dogs with typical “sled dog bodies.” I am in the process of moving Denali into an H-back since the X-back seems to make him crab (trot sideways), he's got a long body so we'll see how it goes.
