Alee C.
So I've been looking for a while for a good food for my dog(and my cats), I thought I had found one, a canadian made nutreco wholesome blend grain free http://www.nutreco-pet.ca/brands/wholesome-grain-free/dog/wholesome-blend---grain-free-medium-breed/12/. But someone pointed out that the protein level in this food is quite high. Rex is a 65lbs male husky. He is 7 years old. Pretty laid back but can be very energetic. He doesn't eat a lot during the day, just picks at it. He does occasionally have constipation. Here are a few other foods at my feeds store. Nutro natural wholesome essentials http://www.nutro.com/natural-dog-food/natural-choice-dog-food/dry/wholesome-essentials-adult-dog-chicken-rice-oatmeal.aspx Eukanuba Lamb and rice: http://www.eukanuba.com/en-US/product/adult-natural-lamb-rice-formula.jspx Eukanuba naturally wild: http://www.eukanuba.com/en-US/product/turkey-dog-food.jspx They also sell royal canin. So which of these foods would be best? Or should I start feeding Rex a Senior dog food...I don't feel like he is a senior he can still run faster then any other dog I know!!! Alee C.
I also noticed that there are foods you can buy online in canada here`s a link of all the foods: http://www.homesalive.ca/dog-food-supplies.html
jmscott
I always say Prey Model Raw, but if you want to stay with kibbles, I try Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Innova or similar.
Juno
There really is nothing wrong with high protein levels in dog food. I'd worry more about low protein levels, since protein is essential for dogs. Some brands I highly recommend are: Taste of the Wild, Merrick, Dr. Tim's, Earthborn Holistic, EVO, Fromm, and since you are in canada, Nutram grain free. Alee C.
I ordered some blue buffalo dog and cat food from the link above. Hopefully the pets will like it. Also wondering is it safe, and healthy to feed dogs raw eggs? I was thinking about mixing some eggs into his food. Also I have some chicken stock I could pour on his food. Juno
make sure the stock doesn't have MSG in it. MSG is known to cause seizures in dogs
Alee C.
So still waiting for the blue buffalo to get here... But I want to a small grooming shop today and saw they carried Innova, food and Evo food. The shop is like 45mins from here but my dad and brother work there everyday. This would be much cheaper to get it from there because when I ordered it online I had to pay an extra 25$ shipping. So which food would be better blue buffalo, Evo, or Innova. Michelle Melsom
Acana is a Canadian made food I really love I have also heard good things about taste of the wild. I would get Acana if its not too much for you, Marius use to get the soft version of Evo with his supplements so that is a good food as well . Dogs aren't considered seniors until they are
