Eating habits, are they good or bad?

Just curious as to what other people are like with eating.

Ive been thinking lately about the way that I eat and I know that it is certainly not doing me any good. Im not actually talking about what we eat, but more the time that we eat. I skip breakfast and therefore dont each each day until well gone 13:30 and also dont generally have tea (the one thats supposed to be around 5pm for you americans lol) until around 20:00 at the earliest.

So anyone else this bad?

I used to skip breakfasts completely but ever since I started studying abroad I lived with people who break their fasts I got on the same train. But lately I usually just grab something and eat it once at school (morning classes). It's usually some fruit. And now that I spend almost 3 days not at home I usually grab a few of these to keep me going. The same with fluids regime. I just drink tap water somewhere, or get it out of fruits.

Another thing is, I may be hungry, just like now but my laziness gets the worse of me and I just starve.

Ghost eats for me too I guess, he could eat non stop.

No tea at 5pm here either. Feel better now?

I usually don't eat breakfast either. I'm just not hungry in the morning.

About 2 hours after I wake up though, I start to get hungry, so then I nibble on stuff. Apple, granola bar, carrots, or I buy an assorted meat sub (with salami, ham, turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, ranch dressing, and pepper. Drool...).

Now that I'm living on my own (for school), I find it hard to make 'meal plans' to make sure I'm getting everything I need. That's why I take 2 multivitamin tablets every day, as well as drink atleast 1 'meal replacement' drink every day.

I find fish is the easiest thing to cook, so I eat lots of that. Good brain food, too, and it goes good with frozen vegetables and/or baked potato...

Next is pasta. I usually hate olive oil on my pasta (I'm more of a 'pasta can only go with red sauce' kinda person), but I find I don't want to wash a pot that was only used for the sauce, so I put olive oil on the pasta (always whole wheat pasta, its better for you!) along with some browned garlic, salt, and pepper. And it tastes surprisingly good!

I also love myself a good steak. For supper tonight, I had a t-bone steak with corn-on-the-cob (another easy thing to make, just stick it in a pot of boiling water for 3 minutes and its done!) and it was heaven! I love my steak rare, so it doesn't take long to cook either!

Although, I have to admit...I'm really bad with junk food.

Like, I can go through 2 bags of chips in a day, as well as an entire container of cookies, and it doesn't seem to affect me at all. No weight gain or anything (don't kill me!!!). I've been trying to satisfy my urge for 'crunchy' food by eating stuff like carrots...but its just not the same!

But, to make up for it, I'm starting to go to the gym. I go twice a week for about 1.5 hours each time, and I'm going to ramp it up to 3 times a week soon. I love going on the bike, the treadmill, doing a little bit of weights, and going on the elliptical machine.

Right now, even though I just ate supper an hour or so ago, I'm starting to get hungry again. But I'm so behind in work, and I'm so stressed with upcoming exams (and I'm kinda lazy...), I don't want to prepare something special to deal with a little hunger...I'll just snack on chips or crackers or cookies.

Somewhere I picked up the two meals a day (sorta) habit. I seldom feel like eating until I've been up for a couple of hours so my first "meal" (normally toast and something) is about 10:00 and then I'll fix myself a real meal about 20:00 or so. But then, I don't think I've ever met anyone who works with / around computers who eats "right".

My husband eats well. He always has breakfast - cannot go without it.

He comes home for lunch every day (12:30) and I cook a full meal. He is a big meat/fish eater and I usually make at least 3 veg, unless it is pasta or curry, and there is always a green salad to go with it. I make enough, and he gets the exact same meal for his evening meal

Me on the other hand, I will normally eat once a day, either lunch or evening meal. I don't snack during the day either - I just don't eat a lot. But ............ offer me a burger or pizza anytime of the day, even breakfast, and I will eat it :D

Now, you have no excuse @Rosemary - if you fix him three good meals a day, you should be eating better than that!!! I can understand people who live alone, like I do, not eating right but when you have people for whom you're responsible - ah, for shame lady!!! :)

He makes his own breakfast - he has been well trained :bananadance1:

I can't survive without my 6 meals a day , nice bowl of porridge then 10 eggs scrambled ( minus 8 yolks ) for brekkie then my next meal is at 10.30am then again at 12.30 then at 3pm again at 6pm then last one at 10pm , Mmmmm I'm hungry again.

Wow! 6 meals a day? My body's lucky if it gets 3!!

Speaking of that, I'm hungry now. Going to go eat...

You gotta eat brekkie it is very important to get the good carbs in there to fuel the engine in order to function properly for the first few hours of waking , then the rest of my meals help with my metabolism trying to lower my body fat to around 8-10% high protein low carb diet nice , hate this diet but when I'm loading carbs it's great fun ????

Never eat breakfast and usually only eat either lunch or dinner, rarely both in the same day. Think I mostly run on caffeine and cigarettes, not very good at all.

Sounds like Sheryl Crow's 'Every Day is a Winding Road':

I've been swimming in a sea of anarchy

I've been living on coffee and nicotine

I've been wondering if all the things I've seen

Were ever real, were ever really happening

I think I eat healthily, it's everyone else who tells me I don't. I don't have the time, energy or inclination to waste time in the kitchen. It took me 6 months to learn how to use my new oven and I still don't understand all the features of the hob or oven. Bothered - no way. I will happily eat the same thing every day. However, I do have a mid day meal at school - yep a School Dinner and it definitely tastes better than anything I could cook.

Cook it all the night before problem solved , I've got 2 young kids, work solid 8 hours graft a day ,take the dog out twice a day and at the end i go the gym for 2 hours a day, so from 5am till 10.30pm I'm on my feet , that's why I cook all my meals before bed, simples .

I'm lucky my kids are much older and house trained to the extent they are better cooks than me. I am not house trained and I have absolutely no interest in cooking and much prefer to spend my spare time doing things I am interested in. I shop as little as possible and when I do it is bulk shopping courtesy of Costco so I don't have to go too often. My kids once told me that I spend longer checking the quality of the dogs food than I ever did on theirs! Mind you one of my son's is nearly finishing a PhD in Chemistry with a first degree in bio-chemistry and specialises in the nasty micro-organisms that can kill. He has said on more than one occasion that my spag bog is the closest thing to salmonella poisoning that you can get and this is what kick started his interest in his specialism. So being a hopeless cook does pay dividends. Well that's my argument and I am sticking to it.;)

Lol, yep I remember the song well. I hope the world is real, not sure I like the idea of hallucinating.

I dont eat breakfast first thing i normally have coffee at first but i have got into bad habits due to not being at work etc now when i was working my routine would be porridge in the morning then i would normally have some kind of snack for "brunch" crisps or chocolate for example... then lunch i would normally have sandwiches or pasta, with crisps, chocolate and normally a banana for slow energy. If i dont have lunch ive taken in i would go to a takeaway instead. Afternoon i would normally have another snack. Dinner i would have a BIG meal (i need alot of food as fast metabolism) then sometimes ill have a dessert sometimes not.

My routine atm is i get up have a coffee or three lol then maybe ill have some toast or porridge but not always.. lunch normally have either soup with bread or a couple of wraps or left over pasta etc from night before (i always make to much!) then dinner again will be a BIG meal :)

As a rule I have one meal a day, usually my tea which is anything from 5.30 to 8 o'clock at night. If I eat lunch I can't manage. Can't start the day without a couple of cups of tea though. I generally don't snack except on a Saturday evening I lean towards cheesy nachos (yum)
