Road block

Went to our house in Greyton this morning and on the way were pulled over by traffic cops into a rest area, there were cops everywhere  They checked our roadworthy and licences and one of the cops introduced us to an elderly gentleman who shook hands with us, and asked us where we were going. He was the Mayor of Theewaterskloof - our municipal district. He then gave us two gifts - a bag of apples, and a brown paper bag, wished us a great festive season, and a pleasant and safe journey and sent us on our way.

In the bag was lots of goodies - biscuits, sweets, toffees, clean wipes, vouchers, and lots of tourist information of interesting places to visit and a map of the area.

Apparently a lot of the businesses in the area supplied the goodies - the company my husband works for supplied the apples ;)

How cool is that :) makes a huge difference to when we were pulled off two weeks ago because my husband answered his cell phone while he was driving (he does know better than that), and got a R500 fine :(

That was really nice.

Is the mayor due for re-election soon ??

People will remember, unless they were in a hurry and really didn't need the delay. :P

@Andy, the municipal elections were held last year - every five years, so he has a way to go yet :)

Then it was a VERY nice gesture
