There are lots of things you can do on a windows machine, and this page pretty much has the best of the tweaks you can use on windows 7. I've had something hanging on startup and haven't been able to locate it ... sysintenals Autoruns, one of their referenced tools, pointed out a couple of dlls not available to load - but windows still has to go looking.
