My Lifestyle suitable for a husky ?

Thanks for the in depth reply :)

1 more question. I'm browsing through ads for a Pup. Why is there such a difference in prices. I mean there are some for £150 - KC reg etc. Then there are some for £600.

Does price reflect the pup or I guess some breeders just don't need the profit as much as others ?

:jawdrop: (First reaction)

Please, please, please look at getting a re-home from one of the Husky welfare places.

Do not respond to any online advert.

If you insist on a pup, ask on here.;)

Hi Phallen and welcome mate. I have not been on this forum for long but have found that if you have questions this is the place to ask. In my opinion, steer clear of pups that are cheap and, if possible check out the pedigree. The reason I say this is that I have a rescue dog. The woman that we got her from only paid £150 for her and was handed a "pedigree" with the dog. When we got her she had lost the paperwork so I checked with the KC only to find that there was no pedigree. Fortunately not everyone is like this and there are some nice dogs to be had. Good luck in your search.

Gary.

I visited the Dogs Trust the other day. There were two Malamute Husky's there but no Siberian Husky's.

I love the idea of re-homing dogs, However I wouldn't want to do it myself yet as I don't have much experience in training dogs.

I believe Re-homing dogs is a great idea for expert dog trainers as they know how to deal with the problems they may have.

That's my reason for not wanting to re-home a dog at this stage anyway.

However I will be considering the battle of training a puppy. I have a PM already from someone on here. I will let you guys know how it goes. I will probably make the decision end of January.

Thanks guys.

Puppies need training too, if not more than rehome dogs. Older dogs are usually already trained while for puppies you have to start from the very beginning.

Thanks. :) I would still rather be the person to train the dog I'm going to spend my life with ;).

Welcome to the forum Ryan!

Two of our three are rehomes (from families, not rescues) so they were trained, but needed to adjust to our life and our existing Sibe - Molly who we have had since she was a pup (now 19 months). Mya (Sibe) is 3 1/2, Timber (Mal) is 5. We have had these two for less than a year so they were both old enough to have developed their own unique habits but they also learn from each other and those they socialise with. Molly has swapped tricks with her older brothers Ollie & Bo (owned by @Biggles in Ruislip - just down the road from you, same parents, different litter). PM one of us to arrange to meet near Terminal 4 where there is a large country park to walk around, with lakes that dogs can swim in (on a long / extendable lead) and an offlead area where they can have a good bounce / run / play with others. We are there pretty much every Sat & Sun, but also out & about quite a bit over the Christmas / New Year break as we are all off work. Loads of other great places to walk not far from here, as @Molly's_Mum mentioned. We let a young family 'borrow' Molly at the Marlow meet as they were interested in getting a Sibe but had no experience so we would be happy to let you walk any of our three to get some experience of their (mis!) behaviour (but probably not all at the same time lol!). Let us know if we can help...

Also when are people out and about. I will see if I can meet you one weekend.
