Rosemary
Micah is doing well - the pain is under control except for when she wakes up in the morning. She is taking everything so well. We have stopped her walks, but she misses the beach and the forest but have started her on the tredmill to build back muscle in her hind legs - slowly and controlled. She will go back to her favourite places, but only when we have built sufficent muscle and we are sure she can handle it. She is a husky - she ignores the pain in order to do what she loves to do, so unfottunately for her, this is one of those times when Mommy knows what is best. I will post a pohoto of her x-ray later to show you the bone which did not form properly.
Biggles
Glad to hear Micah is doing well, long may it continue. Her Mummy definitely knows what's best but I bet she has a brilliant "You're so mean Mummy" look and probably the complaint to go with. In fact, probably just like a human teenager. I can't imagine your relief. Sarah must be a wimpy husky--when she hurts or doesn't feel well she will not move. By all means, you and the vets know best. Give her a scratch in her favorite place from Sarah and me. I will post a pohoto of her x-ray later to show you the bone which did not form properly. If you don't mind it would be fascinating. I admit it, I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to imaging. How are you and Monty? Does he still feel bad about the running, etc? I hope not. Hugs to all! Ravenwolf
Rosemarie I'm so sorry to hear about Micah! I'm relieved to hear that she is improving and the pain meds are helping - it's hard not to feel guilty but I'm so sure you did everything you could as soon as you could. The fact that the vet thinks her good diet made it harder to detect for longer is a GOOD thing - it gave me more time with comfort and health than she would have had on a craptastic diet where she would have began hurting sooner. A friend had a german shepherd with hip dysplasia so severed that his hind legs crossed and left tracks on the outside of his forefoot pawprints. It wasn't an easy life, but he was one of the happiest dogs I've ever encountered - pain or not he loved every minute of life. I can't wait to hear what the specialist has to say - I hope they can do something for her!

Wow. That she's been this long without symptoms is little short of a miracle. I'm glad to hear Monty has moved past that place in the process. It's not a good place to be. If you ever need research on meds or whatnot done feel free to ask, I enjoy doing that sort of thing. I have missed you and your posts but it is great to hear from you. Heh, we decided that because having a baby isn't life-changing enough, we packed up and moved to a new town where my husband got a new job and had to show/sell our home while trying to move. It's been a crazy couple of months! Wow, thank you for sharing the x-ray - that's crazy! Will the specialist be able to let you know if it's operable or not? That sounds hectic  but hope for your sake things have settled somewhat The vet says we have a few options, operation wise, so we will see what the specialist says about which option will be the best for her.
