Tutorial: Notifications

Recommended Posts

Was brought to my attention earlier that notifications were not being recieved by people and this is all to do with the settings you have for yourself within your settings area. Seems like a good call for a bit of a tutorial on how to set these up to your own liking and so here we are :)

Where to find them

As with other areas for settings you can find this in "My settings" by clicking on your username at the top of the forum. You may well find other items of interest within here so worth having a look through.

When I reply

One of the most important settings from within this area is what to do when you reply to a topic. Previously when you replied to a topic, you would be notified if anyone else replied to it. Now you can choose what happens and on what frequency. This setting should be the first that you choose your option for.

Everything on our new software with regards to posts and notifications is governed by "following". You can follow a topic, or you can follow a forum and there are setting for each so you can choose to do different things for each item. For example you may want to recieve an notification in the bar at the topic when someone replies to a topic you have followed, but just recieve an email when someone creates a new topic in a forum that you have followed.

Read each of the options and set up the notifications as you wish :) . Items that are greyed out have a setting which may not be changed.
