Have You Ever Stood Under A Wind Turbine ?

Driven through a wind farm in Spain on the way to Gaucin. Was eerie enough just driving through, can't imagine standing under :/

With regards to falling down, not sure if anyone has seen the mast from the m62, if you're eastbound it's on the right. The second structure erected there collapsed from high winds and ice years ago. That thing rising out of the Moorland makes you think of some fantasy film with a tower in it lol

Not sure how I would stand under these. This is the closest windpark I know of, built far away out on the sea. Saves a lot of trouble  :P

So... something that needs decent winds to work... falls flat on its a*** when there is a decent gust of wind? :wtf:

Denmark is (apparently) the windiest country in Europe and has loads of wind turbines. (Makes some kind of sense). Yet they still only work part of the time (can't remember the percentage...)

So why are we bothering in the UK? Wind is unreliable, as is solar.

Apart from certain parts of the Midlands (as in the 'Midlands Craton' - the only area where 'basement' (pre-Cambrian) rock is visible at or anywhere near the surface), most of the UK is exempt from seismic action (there have been a number of minor (<3 on the seismic (don't say Richter - out of date!) scale) intra-plate quakes in recent history) so the ground is stable enough for nuclear reactors and we don't get tsunamis (unlike Japan, recently)
