CARRINGTON
As I am sure most of you know Cheyenne was my fiance and I's first pet together apart from the naked mole rats. She and another cat were abandoned by her owners when they moved out. No one is for sure how long they were stuck in the house alone but the vet thought quite a long time with all her health problems. Well a new family moved in and were allergic to the cats and had to get rid of them right away. The called the local humane society in that town and they said they were so full they would be put down as soon as they were brought in, especially the black one because most people do not like black animals. Well the new family did not want that to happen and set about looking for new owners. One of my friends worked with the wife and said she had a friend who was thinking of getting a cat (which was me) and called me. I talked to Zach and he said go ahead and take him. Well, somehow the black cat ended up going with someone else so we were left with either taking the female tortie or her being put to sleep. I told Zach I was not going to let her die because of people who left her!!!! So he agreed to her. 2 days later we went to pick her up from my friend. As you can tell she has greasy matted hair when we first brought her home. Well that was not the end of her problems. She also began to pee on our things, had runny poop, became afraid if she did not have continuous food, was unable to be petted without screaming because her hair was so matted and gross. She was a little under 1 year and was only 2.10 pounds and she should have been 6 pounds. So we did what any good parent would do and ran her to the vet ASAP. The did a urine test, fecal test, and blood test. The found that she has a kidney infection with her urine being 75% blood and was put on antibiotics STAT!!!! It took two rounds for it to finally clear up. Her poop was runny because whatever it was she ate to keep herself alive had destroyed the lining of her stomach so she is now on special food which works wonders for her. The vet also told us to leave out continuous food for her because she would pee, poop, go crazy if not because she thought we were trying to starve her and that we were going to leave her. This has helped out TREMENDOUSLY. Her claws were also digging up into her paws so her front claws had to be removed as well. She was also put to sleep to be shaved, and loves IT!!!! She started to come out with her personality!!! And we couldn't imagine life without her!!!! She also have very special talents. She sits on her hind legs like a ground hog She can also stand on her hind legs with no problems We also have a nightly routine where she comes in to have mommy and daddy pet her when we crawl into bed for the night to be petted. Just a little note It took Cheyenne 5 months before she would come to Zach because she is AFRAID of men, if any other man is in our house you will NOT see her!!!! She also loves to watch TV!!!! And after a freshly scrubbed litter box, she likes to just go and lay in it So how is Cheyenne doing today? Well she is a healthy 10 pound kitty, who loving life. She also gets shaved every 8 months or so and LOVES IT!!!! She will let the vet do it without having to be put to sleep. Sorry for all the pictures but how is she NOT adorable???? This is her home after being shaved and having all procedures done.

a7xAda
Im willing to be that based on her inquisitive nature and strong balance that she is part maine coon? She a beautiful little lady and is very lucky to having someone like you rescue her. It sounded like she had been trough a lot. I love stories like this where an unfortunate stray finds a good life. My cat is a rescue also. Kudos to you on being an awesome parent

She is so talkative and will ask you to pet her but if you do not pet her how she wants to be petted or if she is done with that she will bite. She also hates it if you touch her after she has cleaned herself, which she cleans herself all the time!!!!
