There was a good car for you recently on eBay. Ex police estate car, k9 unit. Specially coverted with air vents, and such like. crates had been removed and no back passenger seats due to conversion. Bit late now, I know!

Hubby's cousin has a free lander and although I suspect you could fit timber, Molly, and maya (sp? Hope I got that right, sorry if not) inside it would be a squeeze in the sense I think it's sitting room only. There are seat belt attachments for harnesses to sit one in the back seat but I feel this would kind of defeat the object of getting a bigger car and not really great for longer journeys. I'm guessing the 4x4 status would also hit you with our lovely governments higher taxes, designed to convert everyone to be environmentally friendly? With regards to camping equipment, if you find something with enough space for doggies, maybe a roof rack for equipment? Wouldn't trust mine with tent in case they got bored and chewed holes in it! Lol.

At the southern camp (where we met you!) we had the tent / table / chairs etc in the roof box and the bedding lining the boot floor for Timber to be comfy on. The girls were in the back seat with seatbelt attachments but there were only two adults. We have a Discovery (see my Valentine thread) and I am converting my old roof rack to fit as the roof rails are wider. Could always get a trailer for the kit but we are considering a caravan. Road tax is the same as the Escort

Looked at the pics, what a lovely present!

I guess it really depends on what you're planning to use the vehicle for.  If your primary interest is family camping holidays, the idea of a caravan sounds intriguing.  It would certainly open up a whole new load of possibilities, I'm guessing you mean a similar style to the one that Karen had at camp?  Very interesting idea indeed.

You could consider looking at a MPV like we have Toyota Verso as 7 seats with the back 2 down there is loadsa room for the dogs and still got 5 full size seats, 45-50 mpg from a 2.2ltr diesel might be worth a look :)

Karen had a motorhome, we are looking at a caravan as Mollys Mum is not so keen on all the faff involved in tent camping - all the setting up / packing away when it is likely to be wet / unpacking at home to dry it out / repacking. And then there is the cold / lack of security with dawgs.
