10-Wk Old With A Bloated Stomach?

Recommended Posts

My 10-wk old was very small/underweight (around 3.8 lbs) when I got him last week because he had worms and apparently had no appetite, though he has been on meds for the past week and has been eating tons. His stomach seems very bloated now, almost hanging when he walks. Just wondering if this is normal for a puppy in his age range? He has another Vet appointment scheduled for next week as a follow-up, just wondering if I should take him sooner, or if this sounds normal?

Thanks.

I have not been checking to see if he has been passing worms, the vet never told me to do this :-(

I think (hope) the meds are working because when we got him a week ago he had zero appetite and was half of the weight he should have been for his age, and he has gained 2lbs in the past week.

We have been trying to get him off the food he was eating before (http://www.nutranuggets.com/products/nutra_nuggets/dogs/dry_food/lamb_meal_and_rice_formula/) because it was an adult food and not meant for puppies, so we have been mixing everyday a bit of his old food with the new food until eventually only giving him the new food, and it comes out to a total of 1 cup a day. This is the new food we have him on http://orijen.ca/products/puppy

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Excellent choice! Orijen is very good quality (as well as Acana). Even better than Taste of the Wild, which is what I was going to suggest.

I'm not sure how much food husky puppies need to have to grow properly (never had a puppy)...but my gut is saying that 1 cup may not be enough?? I'm sure people with actual experience will chip in?
