CARRINGTON
Balto is absolutely terrible at other places then at home. Whenever we take him anywhere he barks and whines. He jumps up on people, attacks and chases (playfully but still annoying) other peoples dogs, cats or anything that moves. He gets overly excited and we have to keep him on a leash the whole time or else he is playing with other dogs who do not want to play with him, he gets into everything, or he jumps up on people and knocks them over or tries to steal their food. This is NOT allowed at home and he knows this and never does this at home!!!! While on the leash he pulls and tugs and yelps and whines it is ridiculous!!!!! Any advice on what we can do to make him behave better in other places? We have the others pull him off or tell him no just like we would but that doesn't seem to matter he still does it. He cannot keep doing this, he does it at puppy class, friends, family, etc. It does not matter where we go he acts like a monster but at home he does AMAZING except with the cat. Any advice
Julieanne
Maybe try taking things to occupy him such as a toy or treats. Get him to realize these will only be given with good behavior and he may eventually catch on and not need them when you go out. Sorry, that's all I can suggest. CARRINGTON
We do bring toys and we have tried treats but he gets a little aggressive especially if other animals are around because he thinks the other animals are going to steal them and he has bitten Zach once already (not bad but he still did). We play with him and the toys and give all animals attention but he is still terrible. That is a good idea to only play with him if he is being good. Elyse
I agree - she needs to learn that bad behaviour still isn't acceptable in other places besides home! If you already practice the NILF method (nothing in life is free) at home, you should make sure you still follow it in other places too. Huskies are smart and quickly catch on what they can get away with!
