Val (Zebedee)
Thanks everyone! I am now officially on a breeders waiting list. I am very happy with all aspects of this breeder and am very excited. The dam is likely to come into season in September so we have a bit of a wait. Having said that, we will be first selection of the litter (after the breeder chooses her desired female) so this is good and gives me time to get everything prepared for the arrival. I will need to get a training cage/crate - any suggestions of size would be helpful. I want to get a harness for the puppy for when he is 12 weeks so I can get him used to one early - I was thinking Manmat Guard Harness. We intend to do plenty of dry-land sledding with a scooter and will get a x-back when he is mature enough to pull. Any thoughts on the Guard harness and collars? Is there an "average" size for a 12 week old. I will probably need to order from O/S as the pet stores here are not very specialised and generally stock the run of the mill stuff. I am a firm advocate of buying once by buying quality. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Cheers Jase Well, you certainly have enough time to make sure you are well prepared to be invaded by one of these furballs we all love! As for crate, you should be able to get your hands on a large one that has a divider in it, this will ensure the pup is not overwhelmed by the size when you first introduce him to it, but then the crate will grow as he grows. We got a 42" crate for Myshka when we got her at 10 weeks old & filled it with cushions etc; she's still in the 42" crate 7 yrs later, just with less cushions! lol I would have a shop around online, maybe talk to your breeder about harnesses, as you may be able to get different suppliers to us here in the UK, do they know anyone who runs their dogs & if so, what did they use on their pups. Let us know if you get any info, there may be others wondering the same thing
