ok, tad confused, maybe i didnt read it properly, but why is it the cat owners fault that it got killed by a dog...

are there laws i dont know about that says you have to keep your cat indoors...(serious question)

My cat is out during the day, and in at night, i dont love her any less or value her any less because of this, seriously confused about those comments...

Back to the subject at hand though, seriously they are putting the dog down because its "believed" she killed the cat...my boys have lived with my girl for their whole life and still chase her.....its natural for dogs to chase...i think the whole thing is silly, especially when she has been assessed and cleared as being "Safe" towards humans.

That is crazy!! I signed.

Yes, its sad that the cat was killed. I'd be upset too, if mine was. But cats do roam. There are no leash laws for cats. They go pretty much where they want to outside.

I've seen where dogs have done way worse and were allowed to live. There are tons of toy dogs that have zero socialization skills that attack anyone/everything, but that's okay because they are small. I'll end my rant there.

No, there are no 'leash laws' for cats. I am not insinuating that owners who let their cats roam do not love their cats, though I cannot speak for others who have commented on that page. Of course, I'm still sad the cat was killed - I'm always sad when an animal dies...whether its cute or not.

And, IMO, I think there should be laws. A year or so ago I swerved to avoid a cat (it darted out and I barely had any time to react), and I could have hurt myself severely (thankfully I didn't, only the car was 'hurt'). Wandering cats are dangerous. And, if they are not fixed and you let them wander around, that's even worse:

I've seen animal shelter employees having to put down kittens because there is NO space for them, and this particular shelter puts down 4 cats a day. Cat overpopulation here is insane. Not to mention the impact they have on birds - an endangered bird species is no longer seen in our area and cats are mainly to blame (they put up cameras in their nesting sites - cats have been seeing eating eggs, killing the actual birds, repeatedly ..even when they know there is going to be food for them at home)

Just wanted to clarify why this is a touchy subject for some. Anyways, back on topic...
