Stormy
We are looking at getting an Estate. The reason being is that i just cannot drive the defender, as much as i like it i dont feel safe driving it i just dont like the steering and i feel really bad as Rob wanted it but he is reasuring me that he doesn't care about the car and just wants us to have one we can both drive So we are looking into Estates... we think it is going to prove difficult with the defender we have already had 3 no's from garages about part exchange... so think we are going to have to sell it seperately... which as much as it looks like it probably isn't worth alot Defenders are worth around 3,500 to 5 grand as for some reason they are well wanted by some people! So anyone got an estate that they reccomend? We are so far looking at the BMW estates, Audi estates and Honda estates Obviously boot room for the dogs is essential would prefer a leather interier as i HATE HOOVERING FUR all the time lol

Dunc
The best 2 on the road IMO are the vw passat or the Volvo and the diesel range on both of these give great mpg 1st think you gotta fine out is your price range because without that its very hard to find any car

Osinn11
Sorry can't help on this one...wrong side of the pond! Honestly not sure what an estate car is. Is it what I would refer to as a "Land Yacht"?
Stormy
Yes lee but the estate is going to be robs car not mine so I'm quite happy with my pocket rocket thank you lol I also don't understand having an estate for lots of speed. Don't want a majorly slow one either but we want a reliable one and I know full well with my Crx messing about with it equals not majorly reliable. Price range 2,500 to about 3,
Beenz&Carlos
we have a 2004 ford mondeo estate cost us £3500 at 50000 miles, good boot space but not as good on mpg as the passat, it normally returns just under 50mpg (closer to 40 mpg on shorter runs) i want a passat! keep your eyes open for Golf estate - like rocking horse poo, but good if you can find one

lebe03
I have a focus estate on a 58 plate and although only a 1.6TDCI it can tow my caravan without any problems and will return high 60+ mpg if you drive it like a granny. I recently managed an average 75 mpg by driving on A roads at 50mph. Obviously the mpg depends greatly on the weight of your right foot

Stormy
Thanks all Lee my sol is like that due to the turbo put your foot down you can pretty much watch the fuel to down! Drive it nicely though its not so bad We would like back seats tbh as it's bad enough having one two seater car let alone two!
Stormy
Garage got in contact with us last night they had previously offered 2 and a half for the defender on a part exchange for a BMW estate which is lovely. Rob is taking it in today for them to have a look and to look at the BMW we had said no to the 2 and a half so i am assuming they are going to offer more now we shall see. Stormy
Was a waste of time not sure why they even asked to see it again. They offered high 2's so nearer 3 grand Rob said no and the BMW wasn't THAT nice either tbh so not worth it
Devildust76
We've had a couple of estates in the past but my fave was our Escort 1.8TDi Sport estate. That thing flew down the road. Amazed I never got a ticket in it. Would probably still have it now if OH hadn't been hit by a Stobbard truck on the A14 turning it in to a Smart car!!! Our new car arrives in 3 weeks Volvo S40 R-Design. Very excited about it but still want a 'little' speedy thing for me
