New To Huskys, Question...

So i've been around husky's, had dogs growing up, but this is my first husky. Beau is his name and we got him at 9 weeks. We have another dog as well, a king charles spaniel who is 3 1/2 and Beau is just over 1 now. He would be the 100% best dog except for the shedding which i completely underestimated. Great temperament, giant mush loves everyone usually....except lately. My wife is now 7 months pregnant and over the last 2-3 weeks he has been going NUTS when someone comes in the house. Barking and howling like we've never heard before. It only happened once when I was home, but its all the time when its just him and my wife. I know he's being protective and he mainly just barks towards the person then walks backwards to see if it did anything. Anyone else have this happen? It only happened recently now that maybe he can really sense that she's pregnant? He loves all dogs and i always have friends and babies over the house.

Hi Rob and welcome to the pack :D

It does sound like he's protecting her - when my friend came round when she was pregnant Kimba use to rest his head across her belly and wouldnt leave her alone - he didn't bother her at all after she'd had the baby

Welcome and congrats on the baby :)

I'm currently 6mths pregnant and my girl will only bark if someone she isn't sure of or doesn't know comes near me otherwise she will greet our guests then come sit between my legs and won't move until they leave she never use to do this until I was about 4mths pregnant.

They can sense when something changes like you and others said hes being protective.

welcome to the pack :D I can't help too much with your question, but I do hear that dogs get protective around a pregnant owner or the owner's new baby. They are sensitive furry creatures nothing to worry about :)
