Keeonah
Well, Hi guys, I think I might be back again but who knows. After losing my internet and being gone for 3 weeks while it was being sorted out I thought that I could get back to a normal routine. No such luck. The OH has been suffering from what they think is sciatica since January time. The doctors had prescribed a cocktail of pain killing drugs for her and physio visits. The physio was getting nowhere and the drugs were doing nothing. Or were they? A few weeks ago she was up all night with what we thought was sickness and diahhrea. A phone call to the doctors revealed that there was a bug going round so it was left with the advise to call back if she was no better in 24 hours. Monday morning came and she got herself an appointment at the surgery. One look and she was on her way to hospital. Dehydrated to the point that her Kidneys were failing. Caused by the cocktail of drugs that she has been on for the last 6 months, namely the biggest offender was Ibuprofen. This has not been a picnic. Hopital, 12 hours a day at work, the dogs to look after, and everything else that comes into everyday life has nearly taken it's toll on me. Even to the point where I was thinking of letting the dogs go. She is now home but nowhere near right. She is in extreme pain 24/7 and needs an MRI scan. Apparently though the only way she can get the MRI scan is if the physio feels that it's necessary. Since when is a physio more qualified than a doctor. I'm getting to the stage where I want to go and put the physio in as much pain as my wifes in and see how he copes with it. Lyn is bearing up but I'm just wondering how much pain one person can take. At the moment I'm still doing everything around here and I'm bloody knackered but trying to put a positive face on to get through it. Fingers crossed. Gary. Andy
Gary sounds like you guys have been put through the mill. i have suffered from sciatica twice, both times were not pleasant and lasted for approx 6 - 12 months. In my case, the first time, bending constantly with bad posture at work, pinched the sciatic nerve, causing it to swell and become inflamed making it even more prone to further pinching. Once I identified how it was happening, I modified how I did the job, stopped the constant bending, and within 6 weeks the pain was gone. The second time (last year) I was on holiday and the bed was very soft, giving me a bad back. Because of that I walked and bent (again) in an unnatural manner. Pinched the sciatic nerve again and bam (pain was back). Took nearly 6 months to clear that one up. It's all about how you bend at the hips. try to limit that and the swollen sciatic nerve has the chance to heal. I hope your wife gets better soon. and you need to try not to be burning the candle at both ends too. Good luck.
Vlad
I do get your frustration as my hub had similar problem for more than a month he could do nothing he has been spend his day pin on the floor as the bed and the sofa wasn`t comfortable but his Gp have give him DIAZEPAM which has help with the a muscle relaxant I know some simple exercise might help to improve your flexibility of the low back .But as Andy said avoid twisting your back. Hope your wife will be fine soon all the best.
sarahjng
Sounds like your having a really tough time right now, is there anyone who can give you a hand ? You might not let anyone else walk the dogs but someone else could put the dinner on, or flick a duster around, or even just keep your OH company for a while, being stuck indoors/in bed/flat on the floor or all of the above can literally drive you nuts (been there, got a nice Tshirt lol) make sure you take advantage of any offers of help, look at home deliveries instead of going to the supermarket, even chemists deliver now. Good luck

Keeonah
Thanks for all your kind coments guys. Life is hard at the moment and I don'tr thin k we've had such a difficult time in our lives and the girls are all taking it in turn to be in season so we have a Keiko that is doing his nut at the moment as well just to add to the mayhem. I've no doubt that we'll get through it, it's just a matter of when Gary.
Keeonah
Well we finally have some progress with Lyn. I went to her physio appointment with her on Thursday. The physio got the impression, just from looking at me, that I wasn't happy with the way things have been dealt with so far. He has now reffered her to a specialist at the hospital and we have also got some painkillers that actually kill pain. Could things be looking up???? Gary.
