The bad news is that it can contain many dangerous parasites like lungworm, heart worm, round worm etc The Good news is that these should be killed by normal worming practice. THere are some other diseases carried but I don't think there is cause for alarm unless he gets worse. It sounds like Shadow is probably more heat stressed than anything more sinister. He is still whining a bit but i have no idea why but its more of a whining because he wants something rather than how he was last night.
