TarMac
Last weekend we washed Tar & Mac outside in the sunshine (with dog shampoo) and gave them a really good rinsing off. Ever since then they have given off a really bad odour, the house stinks of stale dog! Is it such a bad thing to wash them, should they be left alone and just brushed? Any advice is really welcome. mydiamond
wow never heard of that what kind of shampoo do you use? My mom believes that every dog needs to be bathed frequently so Diamond gets a bath every month, but he never smells terrible after that in fact he smells great and the fragrance stays for days. I forgot what kind of shampoo I use though... all I remember is that it's "for white dogs"...
Val (Zebedee)
Ours get washed (shampoo'd etc) about twice a year unless they've been in a mudbath! But not sure why the smell would stay this time. Are you sure all the shampoo was washed out?
Andy
Mine get brushed. If they get wet I rub them down with a towel. Other than that nope. Echo has wet dog smell, but she's a GSD The Huskies never smell. (Well apart from rancid botty burps)
Jase
Sounds like damp to me, are you sure they were thoroughly dried?
Jay
I notice if my dogs are wet they get that wet dog smell, but it usually goes away. I used to have mine groomed about 2-3 times a year. I am not brave enough to bathe them myself lol I also have a doggie deodorizing spray I use sometimes
Mazz
When ours get muddy, we give them a bath. Otherwise, no. When they get wet, they smell like a wet sweater. If it's a bad odor, it may be their fur did not thoroughly dry. Couple that if it's been humid, they may be harboring mildew. Not likely but possible.
