Stormy
I have mot next week putting car back to standard at the weekend so it is more likely to pass it passed last time with no advisorys as standard.... got a manifold sorted. Rob has just informed me he does not know where the cat converter is .... Mot runs out 2nd of august great time to tell me this ... He says there may be one at his parents ... But i would like to know where the one I took off my car went! So I'm quite worried now if this fails mot I'm screwed
stormchaser09
fingers crossed it passes. I think both of mine are due in August too. One doesn't matter too much as its just a wee runabout and I am about to take ownership of my late father-in-laws which is exactly the same as mine but with no rust and only 20000 miles on the clock mine has done 117K. It is a worrying time and can be expensive.
Jay
I'm going to ask a dumb question...whats a mot?
Stormy
Mot we have to have it by law it checks the condition of the car making sure Is safe for the road etc

Jay
Ahhh! Similar to here, we have to have our car's emissions tested every 2 years in order to get our license plates, but they don't check the condition of the car, only that it isn't putting out too much pollution Mot we have to have it by law it checks the condition of the car making sure Is safe for the road etc

mydiamond
I have another dumb question... what's a cat converter? And an even dumber question: why would you want to convert a cat? and what would you convert it to?
Stormy
A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device which converts toxic byproducts of combustion in the exhaust of an internal combustion engine to less toxic substances by way of catalysed chemical reactions. There you go lol I dont have one on it at the moment which is why i would fail an emmisions test

Jay
Wow really strict there! Ours just tests emissions. They hook you up to the gas tank and to your computer and your off.
