Chula
I was scanning through pics on Imgur today, and someone posted this: http://imgur.com/gallery/yn1IS (warning, picture of dog with an injury and strong language) I had never heard of embedded collar before, so I googled a bit - and apparently this happens frequently?! I totally don't understand how someone wouldn't notice that their dog's collar is severing the skin on the dog's neck. The only way I can imagine it happening is if the dog is completely neglected and left outside all the time. Val (Zebedee)
This is partly why my dogs don't wear a collar. They wear harnesses when out & I have started to use a semi-slip when they are staked out but in the house, they do not wear them. It is easy enough when playing to twist & cause damage to a neck, jaw or leg getting caught but to leave the dog with a too small collar & let it embed is out & out cruel, if that is what has happened
