Steve
We've just returned from Jastrzebia Gora, the most northerly point in Poland, situated above Gdansk. We rented an apartment, so were unsure how Storm and Holly would react to being in a strange place. We need not have worried - they had a great time, and didn't mind being left in the apartment during the middle of the day when temperature peaked at around 30degC. They swam in the local river, paddled and swam in the sea, and totally loved the beach. The best thing is that restaurants welcomed dogs with open arms. They were good as gold - I have included a picture below table with the two of them crashed out, and above table with fish galore! We're now back near Poznan after the return journey from hell, but made up for by the last restaurant quite happy for Holly to wonder off the lead as were the only customers at the time. The restaurant owner even took her out the back to play fetch! The meal was fantastic as well - will definitely return there if we are ever near Gdansk again. Steve
By the way, before anybody comments, Storm is NOT on a chain in the last picture! Just noticed the chain around the North Star monument joins his collar perfectly.
Steve
Swimming and playing in the river where it comes out into the sea. This was the first moment that they saw water on the holiday. I didn't capture the zoomies on the beach as I was too busy holding on! Did you need pet passports for the dogs and was there any trouble with customs etc?? We're having a great time, though in the first couple of days we saw 40degC, so we had to be careful when we walked the dogs - basically early morning and late evening. We travelled by car, but making sure air-con was 100% sorted before travelling. The journey from UK to Poland took 20 hours, which was no problem for the dogs, though there wasn't as much space for them as we would have liked with all our luggage. Travelling to and from the seaside (which was 5 hours there, 11 hours on the return journey) Holly travelled in the front and Storm in the boot, so that Storm could stretch out. We've got pet passports, which we've been using frequently since the system was brought in. We only ever had one problem when the vet did not write the name of the flea treatment, but rather just used the sticker to denote what it was. Since then, I've always filled in the passports before going to the vet, and they only need to stamp and sign (we take our own flea and worm treatments so I have the names and serial numbers in advance). It's got less complicated recently as now only the worm treatment is compulsory while away, and there is a 4 day window in which to visit the vet - previously the window was from 24 - 48 hours prior to travel. We still do the flea and tick treatment for our own peace of mind.
