Steve
I've just given both dogs a thorough once over after finding a tick in Storm's soft skin of his groin area. It came out complete with head with tweezers using a twist and firm pull, but he had Frontline less than a month ago, so wouldn't expect to find one so advanced. We saw a vet in Poland last week, and she said that there are a lot this year due to it being exceptionally warm. Yuck!
Mazz
Good you found it and got it removed. Frontline is not a "repellant" in the sense that ticks won't attach. In order for Frontline to do its job, the tick does have to attach. The chemical makeup of Frontline is passed from the skin of the dog to the tick upon attachment. It's quite common to find several dead ticks on ours from time to time, though most drop off. That tells me Frontline is doing its job. jmscott
· Hidden Hidden An easy way is to pour some kind of soap over it. They breathe through their exoskeletons so their reaction to the soap is to pull out and attempt to get to where they can get to air. Link to comment

This one was still alive and quite big, but it looked quite docile as though it was on it's way out, so I'm guessing the frontline was having an effect. However, I didn't want it to drop out in the house, so I removed it there and then, and then crushed it between two pebbles. Important thing is not to touch it or get the bloody contents on you.
